About Biomechanics Fitness and Performance

My name is Benjamin Sabo and I am a certified personal trainer operating independently in Clark, NJ. This website is dedicated to sharing the highest quality of information from trusted sources, as well as my own experiences based on application and interpretation of available training methods and research. While I strive to present any currently available knowledge as accurately as possible, this is a continual learning process and I anticipate providing numerous updates and corrections as necessary.

I believe that the field of personal training has assumed a greatly expanded role in recent years. No longer is it acceptable to merely ask a client to perform the latest workout of the day without any regard for individual goals, abilities and limitations. High-quality personal training should be based on sound physiological principles, not the latest fitness fads and diet trends. I view each client as an athlete, even those who are not training for a competitive sport. In the simplest terms, this means giving them everything they need to improve their fitness and performance and nothing more.

Providing this higher quality of service can be accomplished by learning from other professionals in related health and fitness fields like sport science, nutrition, physical therapy, and neuroscience. For example, it’s crucial to understand that pursuing absolute strength goals may hinder the performance of an athlete, and knowing what to do when weight loss stalls is the key to a successful body recomposition program. Also, learning what modern pain science has revealed is invaluable when helping clients with chronic pain to safely resume a more active lifestyle. While a responsible personal trainer would not attempt to work beyond their scope of practice, and should refer out when necessary, the knowledge and principles learned from other professions may certainly be applied when appropriate.

The human body was made to move and perform work. In our largely sedentary, plugged-in society, learning how to move well and actualize that potential for physical performance requires guidance and effort. My goal is to help as many people as possible to move better, to attain and maintain their fitness goals, and improve the quality of their life.
